As of the yesterday an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone has been put in place covering the whole of the UK. The risk in captive birds remains low but the risk to wild birds is now medium (disease occurs regularly) as a result of H5N8 cases in Europe.

Avian influenza is a notifiable disease and if you suspect it you must report it to your local APHA office. Poultry should be housed (until these measures are lifted) and kept separate from wild birds. Please see the following press release from the government for more details -
