Although Parkside is a mixed practice the large animal and small animal teams are separate so that small animal vets will only every carry out small animal duties. There are 10 full time and 6 part time vets in the small animal team, which is growing.

The main (custom-build, shortly to be extended) surgery is in Dundee with a small branch surgery in Broughty Ferry and a larger recently built surgery in Barnhill. Both Dundee and Barnhill have full operating facilities, digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasonography, extensive in-house laboratories etc.  All hospitalised animals are kept at the Dundee surgery.

We aim to practise to a very high standard while still being sensitive to clients’ needs and expectations. We have an Advanced Veterinary Practitioner in small animal orthopaedics (SA) and an AVP in small animal surgery (FG). We would welcome certificate holders and those with aspirations to gain a certificate in any discipline and recent graduates are welcome to apply.

NO ON CALL DUTIES. Minimal weekend work and and great support within an excellent work-life balance.

CPD is encouraged and funded with approval of the Partners. Should a vet wish to do extra CPD eg study for a certificate we will support and fund this with an arrangement for recovering some of the cost of the CPD should the vet leave the practice within two years of finishing the course.

In the course of a normal week we work a varied shift pattern including approximately: 2 days 8.30am – 5.30pm, 1 day 8.00am to 5pm, 1 day 8.30am – 5.00pm, 1 half day 8.00am – 1.00pm, Occasional weekends = sat 8am til 5pm and sunday 9am til 12.15pm.

One late shift every 1 in 10 where, instead of 8.00am to 5pm, we work 11.00am-8.00pm

Parkside is an accredited Tier 2 Practice with a large friendly and enthusiastic team

We give 32 days holiday a year, 4 of which are taken at Christmas/New Year. Salary is commensurate with experience and no accommodation or car is provided as the tax is prohibitive, although business mileage is paid.
